April 2023 High/Low
You’re not the main character in everyone's story; you’re the main character in your own story.

At the beginning of my birthday month, I found myself placed on God’s strongest soldiers list again.
I kept reminding myself that I may not understand it all but God is still in control.
The first weekend was spent running a 5k at my alma mater county in the rain.
I force myself to get out and be productive by walking around the neighborhood wherever I was.
Easter Weekend was spent visiting an old law school friend in South Bend, IN and her amazing family.
It was nice to walk around South Bend and just chilled.
Life has been good to her and she deserves it all.
I pray that God continues to bless her and her family.
The second week was spent working, taking long walks, drinking a lot of coffee,
consuming way too many YouTube videos, praying, a last minute weekday dinner with
Miss 2 degrees, eye exam appointment and trying not to fall apart internally.
The third week was spent breathing and surviving.
It took a lot of energy to focus on the good within me and around me.
There’s beauty in the mundane even if my life did not turn out how I prayed for, worked hard for
and envisioned.
My bestie, my siblings and my mom reminded me during this week of the goodness of God,
to trust His timing and that knows when to give you the desires of your heart in His timing.
It's about obedience and trust. Trust in the redeemer.
The one who humbly offered himself for you and all humanity.
God has truly blessed me.
He is Emmanuel, God is with us. He is with me even now.
The final week, my birthday week started with me enjoying my older sister Wally handmade foods,
watching Netflix, taking out my braids, remote working, and thanking God for 35 years on this planet.
It is a blessing to be alive and to have a simple life. God has truly been good to me,
He gave me a family that I wouldn’t change anything in the world for.
My birthday weekend started off with remote work, running, and
having dinner with Miss 2 degrees. It’s been a pleasure spending my birthdate with her.
She is truly a blessing.
The next day, my oldest sister Wally got my hair done at this great hair salon that does natural
black hair like mine.
The hair stylist was nice and gave me great advice on how to upkeep my hair.
Then we (my sister and I) went to Doctor Hero’s predot (Congolese Engagement ceremony).
It was good to be surrounded by some of my siblings to celebrate Doctor Hero’s engagement.
It was great to be there and cheer her on, in this new chapter of her life.
Afterwards, I had my one on one dinner with my sister Wally at this uptown restaurant that I love
going to.
I ended the weekend with attending Mass, having brunch with R, visiting my mom, my uncle A and
my brother’s house and preparing for the month of May.
This month may have started on the sour note but God is good and He has showered me with so
many blessings, grace and mercy that I can truly say that I am content.
