32 Lessons Learned in 32 years
Take time to deliberate, but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go in
-Andrew Jackson
I turned 33 on April 28th and I decided to reflect on some of the lessons I've learned in my 32 years on this beautiful flawed world.
- be consistent in everything you do;
- never let anyone tell you more than once that they don't want you;
- go for it. That dream, goal, or dream trip. Go for it;
- Life is lived in the maybe (Pastor Steven Furtick);
- have no expectations on anything or anyone and you won't be disappointed;
- mind your own business;
- it's not about your intent, it's about your impact (KevOn Stage);
- if you are ever unsure about someone feelings for you, it's time to end that relationship;
- r-e-s-p-e-c-t. Respect yourself, your time and others;
- learn to be okay with uncertainty;
- love is a miracle. It's rare to find true love but when you do, it requires so much of us but it gives so much to us;
- love people for who they are, not for who you want them to be;
- everything has an end;
- be okay with silence;
- the only identity I want to be remember as is that I was a Christ Follower/Christian (yes, Catholics are Christians also);
- be okay with the "NOs";
- don't share every aspect of your life with everyone;
- God will provide. He has and will always make a way;
- it's okay to not speak with your friends every day. I've learned this from my best friend. We both live different lives, but the love remains;
- be careful when calling those around you "friends," sometimes they are just "peers," or "associates;"
- Nothing in your life is a permanent possession (from a sermon i heard; forgot the pastor's name);
- stop asking other people for their opinion on what you should about your life;
- desensitized yourself. not everything should have an effect on you;
- no one cares. Live your life;
- life is filled with choices;
- don't engage in screaming matches;
- learn from every mistake you make;
- turn your cell phone off sometimes;
- save money for the rainy days;
- it's okay to have feelings but use your head also;
- pray. even when its hard, pray. even if you have to whisper, pray; and
- time is non-refundable. Use it WISELY.
